Family

Mom & Dad: Your family has been absolutely amazing.

When you first came home from the hospital, Aunt Julianne was in town and spent hours each day holding you.  Uncle Brent has stopped by to spend time with you a few times as well.  Grandpa Tom has stopped in to say hello as well (he was actually the first person to "babysit", he watched you for an hour or so a week after we brought you home so we could "get out").  Pops has made many appearances throughout the weeks and makes sure to come in and hold you and talk to you often.

As expected though, the "winners" for most amazing have been Grandma and Nanny.  They have taken turns over the last few weeks coming by and watching you while your mom and I run errands or take care of things around the house.  Since Grandma is your mom's mom she has been here more than anyone and often times your mom and her will spend hours talking.

What is even more amazing is that you are the perfect little angel around the rest of your family.  It seems that the crying and fussiness goes out the window when they are here.  We sometimes wish that they could just move in if that meant you would be relaxed more of the time!

As for the last, but certainly not least, member of the family, your brother Kodi has been awesome.

He definitely knows he is second fiddle at the moment and always lets us take care of you before him.  He is patient and loving.  The most amazing thing that has happened between him and you was actually one of the first nights you were home.  When some friends stopped by Kodi was very protective. Greg Herrington, who Kodi has known since he was a puppy, leaned over your rocker and Kodi became very alert.  When he reached his hand down toward you he immediately jumped up barking.  He is already being a great big brother.

Conclusion

There is a lot of stuff that I have left out at this point and it is why I wanted to finally catch up.  It is hard to talk about each individual event that has happened in your life thus far if I can not do it on more regular basis.  Here are few other things we did not really get a chance to get into, but stuff that was worth mentioning in case we don't get to it in future posts:
  • Tummy Time - Your first tummy time and each subsequent one have been about the same.  You laying on your stomach for about 10 min. crying and wailing around.  We haven't done it as much as we should, and we will need to start focusing on it more.
  • Mommy's Surgery - Although your birth went well, mom has been struggling a bunch healing.  Her incision got infected and she has been in more pain than she lets on.  We're hoping she gets better now that she is on medication for it.
  • Dinners - We were lucky enough to have our family and friends make us a slew of meals for us to eat while we have been home.  We did not have to make anything for the first 3 weeks we were home.
  • Thanksgiving - I hope we get a chance to put up a post about Thanksgiving, but just in case...We did Thanksgiving at Grandma and Grandpa's with the entire family.  Nanny, Pops, Uncle Brent and Aunt Julianne were all there.  You were sleepy and cute the entire time.  The only real bummer is that you decided you were going to get hungry just as everyone sat down to dinner.  So our official first Thanksgiving dinner with you was me and mom sitting in the living room with you while everyone else ate.  I'm sure that is not going to be the last time something like that happens!
  • Christmas Card Pictures - We all went to Nanny and Pops' house to get a Christmas card picture taken.  After about 150 photos I think we found 2 or 3 that we liked.  You looked adorable, but for the entire shoot you were either crying or sleeping so that was what we had to choose from.
  • Friends - You have had many visitors come by to meet you.  As expected you were a little angel around all of them and they all loved holding you.  The most helpful friend we have had is actually our new neighbors and friends, Susan and John.  Susan's baby, Lindy, is three months older than you and Susan has been a huge help to talk to about anything baby or Peyton related.  I am sure you will be hearing a lot more about her and John in the months to come.
We know we missed some other things as well but are glad we got somewhat caught up.  Tomorrow begins the more regular updates which should be both shorter and a little more interesting.
