Today was an eventful day.
We had our appointment at the lactation specialist, an appointment made because I was trying to understand how to incorporate pumping and breastfeeding and how to keep up with you and the amount you were eating, as well as the fact that you seemed unhappy with the amount you were getting from me and whether or not we should talk about supplementing.
Enough boring details, the bottom line was that we came up with a solution that we hope will make you a little happier. I started using a nipple shield in the hospital when I was having trouble feeding you and have been using one ever since. The doctor suggested I get you weened off the shield so that more of the milk was getting directly to you versus through the shield. Fingers crossed it works.
At home after the appointment, you were in an exceptionally good mood, lots of "talking" and interacting. I was downstairs with you and you were just loving being talked to, so I called your dad downstairs to enjoy a non-crying Peyton moment. He was making funny faces at you and you started smiling so big, it was the most amazing thing. This was not the first time you had smiled, but this was the first time you had smiled because something was amusing you. And guess what? I got a picture!
This was so much fun! I can't wait to see you smile again and again and again!
