YOU ARE FINALLY HERE!!!
Mom and I got up bright and early and left the house at 6:28AM to head over to Reston Hospital only 3 min. away. When we got there things seemed to happen very quickly as your mom and I were taken to a room where they prepped her for surgery. I put on hospital scrubs while she changed into a gown. She had 5 different nurses and doctors coming in and out of the room asking questions, telling us what we could expect and recording things in her file.
Pops and Nanny and Grandpa Tom and Grandma Judy along with Aunt Julianne all came back to visit with your mom and I before they had to take you back. They all obviously wished us luck and were just as excited to meet you as we were.
By 7:30 they were wheeling mom into the operation room. I waited nervously outside. Like I have said before, I was not nervous throughout the last 9 months. But now the time had come where you were about to enter the world. Mom was very scared and it made me worry about the both of you. I was invited into the room around 8:00.
The next 10 min. seemed to take forever. I sat by mom's head with her tummy hidden behind a curtain. She and I tried to talk to keep our minds busy while we waited. It has only been one day since all of this happened and I already can't remember what we said to each other because in the back of my mind all I was thinking was "please be okay Peyton."
The doctor's told me it was time and I stood up to watch them finally bring you into the world. I took some pictures in case you ever want to see them, but I made sure to watch you be born in real life rather than on the screen of a digital camera so they aren't the best pictures I have ever taken.
They immediately carried you over to a little table with a heat lamp as the nurse cleaned you off and took measurements. Your mom was holding her breath because she could not see you and you had not yet made a noise. Once again, time stood still and in what felt like over a minute but probably took seconds, you finally let out wail. I was looking at Mom when it happened and you could see the immediate relief and joy in her eyes.
You were here and you sounded healthy.
It was a wonderful moment that I know we will both be able to say was one of the greatest in our lives. The nurse handed you to me and I got to hold you for the first time and present you to your mom. We both teared joyously and were all smiles. One of the doctors took some pictures to help us remember the moment.

You were a small baby in weight, but a long baby in length. A full head of dark hair with dark blue eyes. The cutest little nose and most perfect little lips I have ever seen. Your legs were long and in "froggy" style because of the way you laid in mom's tummy. I would be lying if I said baby's are adorable when they arrive because of all of the "stuff" on them, but I can honestly say that none of the mattered when we saw you for the first time. You were beautiful to us and you always will be.
I Love you Peyton,
Dad.
