Well that was pretty much awesome. Your mom and I went to the doctor's today to make sure you were growing up nicely. We have not been too worried about you since mom has been amazing taking care of herself and you over the last few weeks, but we needed to make sure you were growing up to be a healthy baby.
We headed over to a different doctor's office this morning to have an ultrasound done on mom's tummy. As we were in the waiting room there was another young dad there with his young son. I could not help but smile as his son played with toys in the corner making noises only to run over to him so that he could "see the dolphins" again. I guess they had just been on vacation and they had captured a trip to see dolphins swimming. He sat on his dad's lap as they played videos over and over on his iPhone. Watching the excitement in his son's eyes and all of the questions his son was asking made me very excited to share those experiences with you. It was truly touching.
Once your mom and I got in to see the doctor I saw the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life. There you were on the computer screen. Moving around. Waving. Covering your eyes. Shifting your legs.
Five little fingers on at least one hand could be seen and you became really real to me. It was something people have said over and over and I believe them now...you don't understand how much having a child means until it happens to you. Today...it happened to me.
The outcome was all positive and we even got to see some 3D images of you. To be honest, for as amazing as it is to see you, you look like an alien still. Hopefully you'll grow up to be much better looking :)
We left happy with the doctor's approval to finally start telling everyone that mom is pregnant!
I love you,
Dad.
