It has been a fairly mild June. Yippee!
According to the doctor I have to be careful about overheating when I am outside, so I try to spend as much time outside as I can when the weather is mild. Sadly, this has been more difficult since I have to spend a lot of time inside trying to get the house organized.
So when I woke up a few Saturdays ago and learned that it was going to remain in the low 80s I knew I wanted to tackle a project outside...here we come backyard! When we moved in the backyard was just a bunch of rocks, it was very uninviting and uncomfortable and Kodi had expressed to both your Dad and I that something needed to change, so it had been decided, the rocks had to go!
Your dad and I had NO IDEA what the plan was when we started the project, we just put on some music and grabbed a couple shovels and started moving rock.
When the reality of how big this project really was, we had to take a step back and come up with a plan. The plan involved "Pops" and Grandpa a couple "helpers" and several hours. Darn, we will have to wait another week before everything can get done, but by the end of the day the yard looked like this...not bad for just the two of us.
The following weekend Pops and Grandpa came over with shovels, wheelbarrows, and a pickup truck. The entire days plan involved removing all the rock and taking it to the dump, putting down top soil and tilling up the yard and leveling it, and the final step, buying, cutting and laying sod. The 3 of them got started around 9am, and I stayed out of the way and continued to tackle the inside of the house. From start to finish the project took about 9 hours, but boy is it going to be worth it.
Look how pretty! Of course this isn't the final picture, but I'll get those up here soon.
I can't wait until this time next year, when all of us can be outside enjoying a beautiful evening and you can be enjoying playtime on the soft grass with Kodi.
