We actually got this part of your room done about 6 weeks ago, but I didn't want to post it before Aunt Julianne came to visit because I didn't want to spoil it for her.
But now she has seen it, so I get to post this...
This was our first big DIY project. I had seen several pictures of board and batten and just HAD to have it in your room. It seemed easy enough, so once I was able to finally convince your dad to help, I did some research, he took some measurements, and we headed off to Home Depot to price it out. Guess what? The whole room could be done in under $200!!!! Woohoo! Music to our ears. Let's get started!!
Here is how the room started out...
Pretty dull huh? I wanted your room to have a little personality. Just like your daddy...hehehe. Love this look hunny.
The miter saw was a 'must need' for this project and it's a pretty expensive tool, but luckily, I was able to buy one from a coworker for a really good price! SWEEET!
Dad was excited to find out how the saw worked, and I think I can safely say that he won't be disappointed if I ask him to do another project where he has to use it.
So, while your dad cut the wood, Judy and Jane painted the room.
I decided on a very simple color palette, I wanted to focus to be on the board and batten, not the wall colors.
The boards aren't even up, and I'm already loving it!!!
And I think your daddy is loving the new nail gun we got!
The nail gun made it so easy for him to get all the boards up in no time. The only snag we ran into was that the walls themselves weren't straight, so it left a few gaps between the boards and the wall. But once we got the gaps patched up and painted it didn't matter, the room looked AMAZING!
I can't wait to get the rest of the furniture in, but first, I have to wait for the next fun addition.

The following weekend, Grandpa Tom came over and spent TOO MANY hours helping dad get the chandelier up.... LOOK!!
It may have taken while, but IT WAS WORTH IT!
I'm so excited! The room is coming together and I don't even have all the furniture in or the bedding on. The room looks so different even today, but I need to get some pics before I can do a post on it.
